Thespian actor Dilip Kumar was offered a lead role in the international project Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by director David Lean. However for reasons unknown, the actor declined the offer. The role subsequently went to Egyptian actor Omar Sharif (Mackenna's Gold). Popular Indian comedian and actor-director I S Johar was a part of Lawrence of Arabia, though.
