Review: Dil Kabaddi is half-baked

Movie: Dil Kabaddi
Director:Anil SeniorProducerShailesh R Singh
Music:Sachin Gupta, Dhruv Dhalla
Cast:Rahul Bose, Irrfan Khan, Rahul Khanna, Konkona Sen Sharma, Soha Ali Khan, Payal Rohatgi

Two couple friends meet on an ordinary evening that turns out to be a bit different. One couple informs the other, rather casually, that they are splitting. The nonchalant attitude of the separating twosome Samit (Irrfan Khan) and Mita (Soha Ali Khan) shocks their friends.
While Simi (Konkona Sen Sharma) is surprised at this development, Rishi (Rahul Bose) tries to dig the subject deeper. But their questions are met with tired responses.

Review: Slumdog Millionaire

Movie:Slumdog Millionaire
Director:Danny BoyleMusicAR Rahman
Cast:Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Freida Pinto, Irrfan Khan
Golden Globe wins, Oscar nominations, steely arguments about its authenticity – it’s a reviewer’s unwelcome dilemma to work on a film that’s already been built-up this extent.
Oddly assuming their readers have already caught Slumdog Millionaire on the pirated DVD circuit or over the internet, mainstream publications, over the last week, continued reveling in their open-hearted coverage of the film, often letting out pivotal points. No one seemed to be bothered with this spoiler spilling; perhaps every one had watched it after all.

Review: Victory

Movie:Victory
Director:Ajitpal Mangal
Cast:Harman Baweja, Amrita Rao, Anupam Kher, Gulshan Grover, International Cricketers

Films on cricket have had a strange luck-history, oscillating between super hits to dismal flops.
In Victory, we trail the life of Jaisalmer boy Vijay Shekhawat (Harman Baweja), a super-talented player, disillusioned at not being selected for the Ranji team yet again. On realising that important contacts and not ability is the criterion for selection, he gives up on cricket, but is encouraged back by his steadfast father (Anupam Kher, constantly sobbing).

Review: Chal Chala Chal

Movie:Chal Chala Chal
Director:Rajiv Kumar
Cast:Govinda, Murli Sharma, Reema Sen, Rajpal Yadav, Om Puri, Asrani
Sonia Chopra
The way a director chooses to open a film reflects a great deal on what lies ahead. This is one of those films that has, as its first shot, an overhead view of Mumbai city’s hustle-bustle at a crowded juncture. If you think back a few years back, this was the accepted mandatory shot for opening movies about Mumbai. A second later, we see the hero Deepak (Govinda), among many waiting to cross the road, when inevitably something funny must happen – in this case his accidental bumping against a plump lady. An argument between the two ensues and the long scene, with no context to the story, is finally wrapped up,

Aamir was offered Josh

The role of Prakash which was played by Sharad Kapoor was originally offered to the director Mansoor Khan's cousin, Aamir Khan. However, Aamir turned down the role because he felt that it was a very small role compared to Shahrukh Khan's role of Max.

SRK’s hot surprise for cricket enthusiasts

When it’s Shah Rukh Khan, one can always expect something unique and interesting. And this time with the new season of IPL, this Khan once again has a hot surprise for his fans and sports enthusiasts. Recently, Shah Rukh Khan short-listed twenty four girls, ‘Angels’, at Mannat who will now participate in the reality show ‘Knights and Angels’. The contestants will compete with each other and the six winners will form the team of cheerleaders for SRK’s Indian Premier League team, Kolkata Knight Riders. The objective is to encourage sports enthusiasts to take active interest in cheerleading and even consider it as a career option in future. These angels will be the driving force for the Knights when they will battle it out on the Cricket pitch and will also travel with the Kolkata Knight Riders across the country during IPL. The interesting part is that these 24 girls will be mentored and trained by Shiamak Davar. The fate of these 24 hotties will be decided by Saurav Ganguly - captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, who turns judge with this show.

How Harman gets his lines right?

Harman Baweja likes to carry a Dictaphone around when on the sets of his shoot? The actor likes to rehearse his dialogues through it as well as captures a whacky comment if uttered by a friend.

Dilip Kumar's Hollywood dis-connection

Thespian actor Dilip Kumar was offered a lead role in the international project Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by director David Lean. However for reasons unknown, the actor declined the offer. The role subsequently went to Egyptian actor Omar Sharif (Mackenna's Gold). Popular Indian comedian and actor-director I S Johar was a part of Lawrence of Arabia, though.

Ghajini – Movie Review

If you can digest an overdose of physical violence, then Ghajini is a film you shouldn’t miss for Aamir Khan’s unforgettable performance. It’s been years since I saw a Hindi film that had so few dialogues for the leading man. Quite unlikely for a masala movie about romance and revenge! Stoically, Aamir Khan walks and rips through the film with the charm of a Casanova and the beastliness of a vengeful man, and delivers a performance that will be remembered even though the movie itself may be forgotten after a few months.

Delhi 6 Review

While watching a big film, you're often treated to the promos of forthcoming films. In fact, most producers feel that launching the first look of their soon-to-be-released film with a keenly-anticipated biggie would ensure terrific exposure for the film. Post RANG DE BASANTI, everyone's confident that Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's DELHI 6 would attract moviegoers aplenty.
In view of the fact that the film would have a strong opening, its producers, UTV, have decided to include the first look of Vishal Bhardwaj's KAMINEY and Ramgopal Varma's AGYAT with the prints of DELHI 6. These two films have been in news for a while now and one waits with bated breath to see how their first look is.

Golmaal Returns - Movie Review

Director: Rohit ShettyProducer: Ashtavinayak Cine VisionCast: Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley, Anjana Sukhani, Sharat Saxena, Murli Sharma, Vrajesh HirjeeRating: **One danger for any director while making a sequel to a film – more so when it is a hit film – is that the sequel has to be much better than the original. That does add a lot of stress to the makers and they probably end up adding many more elements they would have avoided otherwise. Golmaal Returns seems to be hit by the same syndrome. After an absolutely funny Golmaal, Rohit Shetty tries to come up with a much funnier sequel, and in the process almost kills the sense in the story.

Billu - Movie Review

Cast: Irrfan Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Lara Dutta
Director: Priyadarshan
Producer: Shah Rukh Khan (Red Chillies Entertainment)
Music: Pritam
Rating: ***
Shah Rukh Khan surely is a smart businessman. When he decided to strike off 'Barber' from the name of this movie without much resistance, it was clear that he didn't want to upset anyone among that part of the audience, or for that matter any part of audience who watches movies at single screen and B-class centres.
Billu essentially is a film made for the masses who do not spend Rs150 on caramel popcorn. They rather clap at thunderous dialogues and shed tears watching the emotional trauma undergone by the protagonist of a film.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi - Movie Review

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Vinay Pathak
Producer, Director, Story, Screenplay: Aditya ChopraMusic Director: Salim-Sulaiman Rating: **Right when Aditya Chopra declared that he was starting this movie a well-known new-age director had told us something which we hoped was not true. But alas! It seems to have come true to every single syllable. This is what the director (obviously we can't name him for goodness sake) had said: "Aditya Chopra made his last movie eight years back. And he has not evolved since then in terms of storytelling. I am sure Rab Ne will bring that out to every one." True indeed. Rab Ne falters and how all for its amazingly ancient storytelling style! Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is a story of a very normal man Surinder Sahni (Shah Rukh Khan) who falls in love with a girl named Tanni (Anushka Sharma), who is just about to get married. But all the baaratis are killed in a bus crash while they are on their way to the marriage. Tanni's father gets a heart attack and requests his favourite student Surinder to marry his daughter so that she is not left alone in this world. Rab ne bana di jodi! They get married and land up in Amritsar where Surinder lives and works for Punjab Power.

Tusshar Kapoor the Favourite Comedian of the year

Tusshar Kapoor undoubtedly has added a feather to his cap, but twice that too in a single night.
At the recently held Screen awards, Tusshar won an award for the ‘Best Actor in a Comic Role’ for his truly outstanding performance in ‘Golmaal Returns’ where he essayed the role of a mute boy. The same night, in the ‘Lions Gold Awards’, Tusshar Kapoor bagged an award for the ‘Favourite Actor in a Comic Role’ on his much acclaimed performance in ‘Golmaal Returns’.

Ajay Devgan shift’s home

Well, no not permanently…but the actor has shifted base to his farmhouse in Karjat for a brief period of time. Wonder why? Ajay who is shooting for Vipul Shah’s London Dreams at the ND Studio in Karjat, has considered it better to settle closer to the shooting premises. Coming to rescue is his farmhouse. We sure think it might be bliss for Ajay Devgan now, whose farmhouse is just ten minutes away from the shooting spot.
We wonder if Salman Khan also plans to do somewhat the same considering his little abode is not too far away in Panvel. Nevertheless, we think they are any day better off than Hrithik Roshan who probably wishes he himself owned a farmhouse in Karjat, which would have spared him all the hectic (and expensive) chopper tours during his shooting of Jodha Akbar!

Ajay Devgan ,Bipasha Basu and Rohit Shetty team up again

We all remember this handsome jodi in the very serious ‘Apharan’ but well, this time over the pair is going to team up for Ajay Devgan’s Home Production. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Fardeen Khan and is going to be directed by Rohit Shetty. The lovely Bipasha Basu had earlier worked in Rohit Shetty’s debut film Zameen. The film is not titled yet but we hear that it is a comedy and will start rolling in March in picturesque Goa.
Well, we’re sure looking forward for the two to rock the screen again!

Love Compatibility between Bollywood Couples

Valentine Day has just gone by and most of our Bollywood real life lovers had a great time together showering each other with gifts and what not. But then is their love for each other destined to be forever? Noted astro numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi finds out.
1) Salman – Katrina: Salman born on 27th Dec. 1965 is a No.9 ( Mars ) in numerology. He is a Capricorn ruled by No.8 ( Saturn ) & his destiny number adds up to No.6 ( Venus ). Being in his 44th year, Salman is going through the weakest phases of his life & it will mostly affect his relationship with his girlfriend Katrina. Born on 16th July 1984, Kat is a No.7 ( Neptune ). Being No.7 she is automatically ruled by No.2 ( Moon ). She is a Cancerian ruled by Nos.2 & 7 again & her destiny number adds up to No.9 ( Mars ). Unlike Salman, Kat is going through the best phase of her life & her compatibility with Salman is strictly okay as they share just the No.9 ( Mars ) in common. 2010 will be the year for Salman. He will definitely get married next year but whether with Kat ??? …is quite ruled out.

Vidya Balan gets makeover for 'Ishqiya'

Vidya Balan, who shot to fame as the reticent beauty Lolita in the 2005 hit "Parineeta" will be seen in a deglamourised avatar in "Ishqiya" which is being produced by Vishal Bhardwaj
.The actress, who experimented with a western look in films like "Heyy Baby" and "Kismat Connection" has turned to a complete Indian look for her character of a rural woman in the film.
"There is a shift from a western look to a simpler, more Indian look as I play a woman in a remote village of India," Balan, who was in the capital to attend a conference, told PTI.

Ranbir Kapoor Drops his Shirt for Pepsi

Probably the creative guys at Pepsi must be expecting us to laugh at the commercial, but I’m forced to laugh at their whole idea. Remember the spoof Pepsi made on Thumsup? Two guys go and visit Akshay Kumar lookalike at the hospital and say… “Why are you running behind just one bottle, uncle… drink Pepsi… it is available everywhere”.In this new commercial, Ranbir and the Girl are fighting for just one Pepsi can, so their spoof on Thumsup becomes a joke on themselves.Probably Pepsi guys need somebody like me to make funny and creative commercials

Amrita Rao Gorgeous at Daboo Party

I don’t know how much of Amrita Rao we will see in a cricket centric movie, but I’m happy that at least we will see her on the big screen. The last time we saw her was in ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’, but somehow I did not like her in that. Probably, I’m trying to find Vivah’s Amrita in every movie of her.Anyways, I’m excited for Victory and Shortkut.
