Review: Dil Kabaddi is half-baked
Movie: Dil Kabaddi
Director:Anil SeniorProducerShailesh R SinghMusic:Sachin Gupta, Dhruv Dhalla
Cast:Rahul Bose, Irrfan Khan, Rahul Khanna, Konkona Sen Sharma, Soha Ali Khan, Payal Rohatgi
Two couple friends meet on an ordinary evening that turns out to be a bit different. One couple informs the other, rather casually, that they are splitting. The nonchalant attitude of the separating twosome Samit (Irrfan Khan) and Mita (Soha Ali Khan) shocks their friends.
While Simi (Konkona Sen Sharma) is surprised at this development, Rishi (Rahul Bose) tries to dig the subject deeper. But their questions are met with tired responses.
Review: Slumdog Millionaire
Movie:Slumdog Millionaire
Director:Danny BoyleMusicAR Rahman
Cast:Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Freida Pinto, Irrfan Khan
Golden Globe wins, Oscar nominations, steely arguments about its authenticity – it’s a reviewer’s unwelcome dilemma to work on a film that’s already been built-up this extent.
Oddly assuming their readers have already caught Slumdog Millionaire on the pirated DVD circuit or over the internet, mainstream publications, over the last week, continued reveling in their open-hearted coverage of the film, often letting out pivotal points. No one seemed to be bothered with this spoiler spilling; perhaps every one had watched it after all.

Review: Victory
Movie:Victory
Director:Ajitpal Mangal
Cast:Harman Baweja, Amrita Rao, Anupam Kher, Gulshan Grover, International Cricketers
Films on cricket have had a strange luck-history, oscillating between super hits to dismal flops.
In Victory, we trail the life of Jaisalmer boy Vijay Shekhawat (Harman Baweja), a super-talented player, disillusioned at not being selected for the Ranji team yet again. On realising that important contacts and not ability is the criterion for selection, he gives up on cricket, but is encouraged back by his steadfast father (Anupam Kher, constantly sobbing).

The way a director chooses to open a film reflects a great deal on what lies ahead. This is one of those films that has, as its first shot, an overhead view of Mumbai city’s hustle-bustle at a crowded juncture. If you think back a few years back, this was the accepted mandatory shot for opening movies about Mumbai. A second later, we see the hero Deepak (Govinda), among many waiting to cross the road, when inevitably something funny must happen – in this case his accidental bumping against a plump lady. An argument between the two ensues and the long scene, with no context to the story, is finally wrapped up,
